As District 7870’s overall Rotary Public Awareness Strategy, District Governor Venu Rao is requesting your cooperation in celebrating the NH and VT Rotary Weeks (October 22 – 28) by participating in two activities.  This week in October is due to be proclaimed by NH and VT State Governors as Rotary Week in the two states.

  1. Plan to set up Rotary Banners across Main Street in your town for Rotary Week.  For cities with multiple Rotary clubs, you can cooperate with other Rotary Clubs in setting up the Banners. We will work with you to help design the content on the banners, estimate the cost and, if you need, even get the banners made for you.  The Rotary District will share half the cost of the banners.

  2. Pick one day during  the  Rotary  Week  (October 22 – 28) to  have  a  Social  and  invite  all  the  leaders  in your  town.    Invite  Selectmen,  School  Board  Members,  School  Superintendent,  High  School  Principal,  Police  Chief,  Fire  Chief,  State  Representative,  State  Senator,  etc.,  Give a ten minute presentation to tell  them  how  much  money  you  raise  and  how  much  of  it  is  given  away  as  charities  in  your  local  communities,  not  just  in  one  year,  but  in  the  last  ten  yours.  You can make this event as fancy as you want to by inviting speakers and recognizing local leaders with awards.  The most important thing to remember is to tell the story of all the good your Rotary Club does in your community.
Here is an example:
Hollis-Brookline Rotary Club with 28 active members, raises about $35,000.00 a year with the help of three Fund Raising events.  The Club gives away at least $30,000.00 for various local, national and international charities, which includes $12,000.00 for local high school scholarships.  In addition, Rotary members also give their personal time for local service projects totaling an average of 2180 hours a year.

The club was charted in 1996, since then we have raised over $660,000.00 and gave away all of it for charities, this includes over a quarter million dollars in student scholarships for our local high school!  This is the impact we make in our two small communities of Hollis (pop. 7800) and Brookline (pop. 4800).

The District Public Awareness team and your Assistant Governors are there to help you in any way we can.  As an example, we can help you with:

  1. Designing, and place an order for the Rotary banners for your town’s main street. The district will share the cost of the banner.

  2. Help you with Invitation template, recommendation for speakers for the Rotary Week Social Event, help you put together your Rotary Club’s compelling story for presentation and for publication, etc.
Get the word out about all the work you do in the community, and we are here to help you to do so!
