Dear Rotarians:

Most of us have now completed our second week of social distancing.  As “People of Action” we Rotarians are looking for ways to serve our communities in a safe manner.  We also miss the Rotary fellowship we have at our weekly meetings.

We would like to encourage clubs to consider conducting their weekly meetings by videoconference.  We at the District level have been using Zoom (and similar programs) to conduct meetings.  We have heard that several clubs have been using the free Zoom program for their meetings.  They have been able to invite guest speakers from around the District and around the world.  It is important to have these club meetings, not only to work out how we can help our local communities but also to provide face-to-face contact during this time of social isolation.  If you decide to pay for Zoom Pro service, Rotary members get a 20% discount using the “ZOOMROTARY” code.

If you would like help setting up meetings using Zoom there are several resources at the District to help you.  You should chat with your Assistant Governor.  Additionally, District Treasurer Randell and DGN John are both active users of videoconferencing tools and are willing to help.

Please take a look at March’s Rotary Minute that talks about Connecting During the CoVid19 Response http://msgfocus.rotary.org/q/12FxaYoyLSePIKFKikAfmNvf/wv

March’s Rotary Minute also has a link that describes the easing of global grant requirements to make it easier to address domestic CoVid19 projects.  “The Foundation is waiving the 30 percent foreign financing requirement for any new global grant that addresses COVID-19. Note that these grants still require both a host and international partner”.  Through the work of District Foundation Chair Rick Manganello and District Grants Chair Venu Rao, we have access to many potential international partners for our domestic projects.  Let’s put our thinking caps on.

We look forward to seeing you online and remember to post you activities on the District Facebook Page so we can share best practices.  https://www.facebook.com/groups/53386313539
