Keene Interact Club's $1,800 Challange
The Keene Interact Club is inviting Rotarians to help them provide clean drinking water, sanitation and hygiene education to school children in rural Honduras by making a contribution to their Interact Club’s $1,800 fundraising challenge.
Keene students learned about the negative and life-long consequences facing students who lack access to basic clean water and sanitation, and it moved them to take action. Students in rural Honduras miss school due to sicknesses related to contaminated water. Girls drop out of school when they begin menstruating because they lack safe and private hygiene facilities, such as hand washing stations and gender-specific toilets. Their schools have no access to hand washing stations, toilets or clean water.

These high school students have already contributed to Pure Water for the World’s effort to provide students in Trojes, Honduras with a comprehensive safe water, hygiene and sanitation solution in their schools. They are challenging Rotarians to match their gift of $1,800. Your help will support the Keene Interact Club in doubling its reach.
The Keene Interact Club is following the lead set by RI President, Ravi Ravindran, who is passionate about providing water and sanitation. Ravindran recently stated, "More than 2.5 billion people lack access to adequate sanitation facilities. At least 3,000 children die each day from diarrheal diseases caused by unsafe water. Rotary is working around the world to address these critical needs by giving communities the ability to develop and maintain sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) systems."
