Membership Educational Event via Zoom

Hello Friends!

Welcome to Education Month.

How perfect is it that we are going to hold a Membership Educational Event via Zoom at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23rd?! It’s almost like we knew this would jive. I’m sure someone did, but I cannot claim the credit for that – LOL. I am pretty sure that was our District Learning Facilitator, Ian Bowker, along with DG Ruth.

Yes, this is the Membership Zoom I told you about last month.

Here are some of the items that I would like to be able to cover – we will see what time allows. Worst-case scenario, we end up with a Part 2 and get to see each other again:

  1. The difference between ClubRunner and My Rotary and why you want/need access to both;
  2. How to check and see if you have a My Rotary account and log in; or, if you don’t already, how to create one; or, if you accidentally have more than one, how to fix that/who to contact to get it fixed;
  3. How to get into the new Prospective Member Management (PMM) database;
  4. How to manage your club’s membership inquiries [yes, this is the real meat!]; and, if we have enough time…
  5. Connecting with Prospective Members. (Don’t worry, if we do not have enough time, there is a recorded event we can connect you with all about this topic.) However, I would truly love for us to have a conversation about that particular topic because it is the absolute key to success in so many ways.

There is a lot more we can cover, but it is important that everyone is set up for success. We want you to be able to receive leads and have them go to the appropriate person(s) – if your club wants new members. Believe it or not, some clubs are happy with who and how they are. If that’s the case, there is a way to opt out. The leads will then go to another club that is open to new people joining them.

We also want you to feel comfortable reaching out to people who are inquiring and interested in knowing more, and with using the system to show Rotary International that the lead has been followed up on. Finally, there is a way to update your club information to make your club attractive and appealing to prospective members. More to come on that…

The District Membership Committee as a whole continues to wish to help and serve. We could also use some members from the smaller clubs in the District to join us. We have great representation from the mid-sized to large clubs – and that is fantastic. However, everyone has the option for a seat at the table. To serve all clubs, we need a variety of people sharing their ideas and input, wishes and visions.

If you are interested in sharing your thoughts and/or talents with us – for whatever amount of time you have to give – we are open to hearing from you. If you’re new to Rotary, if you’ve been around a while, or if you’re somewhere in between, we want your input as well. What attracted us, why we join, and why we stay are the bedrocks for where we focus our energy moving forward.
