A warm early-fall hello to our fellow Rotarians from the Elm City, Keene!

We are in the final stages of preparation for our signature fundraising event, the Clarence DeMar Marathon. In just under three weeks, nearly 1,500 runners of all ages will meet a starting line, find out what they’re made of, and cross a finish line filled with celebration, support, and joy!

This is the quintessential community event, with hundreds of volunteers and a vibe that is unequaled in the larger running community.

In addition to our half and full marathon runners, our club has a well-loved event: The Kids DeMar Marathon. This running opportunity asks children in grades 1–6 to log 25 miles over the course of the summer. Then, on race day, Sunday, September 27th, they come to their own starting line and complete the final 1.2 miles of their full marathon, crossing under the same finish-line arch as our grown-up runners.

This year, we have 700 children registered to participate!

For six Wednesdays in June and July, we hosted a run series for Kids DeMar runners to attend a run club and begin building their own running community—a community that has nothing to do with being fast, but everything to do with being supportive and together!

If you’re looking for something fun to do on September 27th, come visit our finish-line area and see what it’s all about!
