Membership Month: Building Rotary's Future Together

Hello, Friends!
Welcome to Membership Month! As we begin a new Rotary year, I'd like to share three important membership updates.
First, Rotary has introduced a new system for prospective member inquiries. (You may remember these as "leads," but Rotary is using more people-centered language.) This updated process is designed to help connect interested individuals with the clubs that are the best fit for them.
Second, we'll be hosting a Membership Zoom meeting in September to walk everyone through the new system, explain how it works, and share best practices for responding to inquiries.
**Third—and most important right now—**please make sure your club's information in ClubRunner is up to date. Your President, Secretary (or Executive Secretary), and Membership Chair should all be listed with current email addresses, as inquiry notifications are sent directly to them. Also verify that your meeting location, dates, and times are accurate. Rotary uses this information to determine which club receives each inquiry. If the information isn't current, potential members may not reach your club, and after 10 days Assistant Governors will be notified to follow up.
If you need help updating your information, please don't wait until September—I'm happy to assist.
Our District Membership Committee is also here to support your club in many ways. We're developing resources and teams focused on attracting new members, engaging current members, developing new clubs, strategic planning and visioning, and helping clubs successfully navigate change.
As District Governor Ruth has emphasized—and as Bill and I shared during our own years of service—the key to a thriving club is honoring long-time members while remaining flexible, welcoming, and relevant to new ones. Finding that balance isn't always easy, but it's one of the most important things a club can do to ensure a vibrant future. Finally, if membership is something you're passionate about, we'd love to have you join our District Membership Team. Even if you aren't looking for another role, please share your club's successes with us so we can pass along ideas that may inspire others across District 7870.
