Rotary Friendship Exchange Builds International Connections
As District 9350 prepares for its Rotary Friendship Exchange (RFE) to Nova Scotia's District 7815 from 11–25 July 2026, Randell and Dianne Barclay are honored to represent the Rotary Club of Hout Bay, South Africa, where they are proud honorary members.
In advance of the exchange, District 9350 Past District Governor Stephen Young (2024–2025) and Jackie have been enjoying a Rotary-themed visit to Vermont. Their itinerary has included the Little Red Schoolhouse in the childhood hometown of Rotary founder Paul Harris, Independence Day celebrations with the Rotary Club of Bennington, a maple syrup tasting at Maple Crest Farm in Shrewsbury, swimming at Perch Pond near Benson, refreshments at Long Trail Brewery in West Bridgewater, and a bluegrass concert in Rutland.
During their visit, they also expressed appreciation to Vermont clubs for their support of the Early Childhood Development Center in Swellendam, South Africa, while highlighting the Rotary Club of Swellendam's support of the Rotary Club of Ludlow's Swift Boat Rescue Global Grant—an excellent example of Rotary partnerships making an impact across continents.
Rotary Friendship Exchange is an official Rotary program that promotes international understanding, goodwill, and lasting friendships through reciprocal visits between Rotarians, their families, and friends. By experiencing another country's culture firsthand, participants strengthen Rotary connections, foster global understanding, and often inspire future international service project
