Rotary Short-Term Youth Exchange: A World of Opportunity!
Rotary’s Short-Term Youth Exchange Program offers students an exciting opportunity to experience life in another country while building friendships that can last a lifetime.
Students are matched with an overseas student and family. During the summer, they visit each other’s homes, typically spending three to four weeks in each country. It’s a wonderful way to experience another culture firsthand while sharing your own.
The program is open to students ages 15–19 as of July 1 of the exchange summer. Applicants should be of good character, have a warm personality, and be enthusiastic about living abroad and welcoming an exchange student into their home. Children of both Rotarians and non-Rotarians are eligible.
Foreign language proficiency is not required. English is widely taught as a second language, and many participating students speak it well.
Participating students and their families are responsible for the application fee, Rotary medical insurance, travel, clothing, and personal expenses. The application and medical insurance fees total less than $367. The hosting club pays the District a fee.
