Woodstock Rotary Weathers the Storm at Annual Picnic
A beautiful summer evening at Silver Lake saw the Woodstock Rotary Club assemble for its annual summer picnic on August 12. Rotarians, family, and friends joined together under the pavilion, spread tablecloths, set out flower centerpieces, and mixed and mingled while the chefs from Pizza Chef in Woodstock created an amazing meal of ribs, pulled chicken, corn, coleslaw, and brownies.
This year, we were also treated to a significant thunderstorm, which came on the heels of the ranger’s warning: “Batten down the hatches! There are 60 mph winds coming with hail.”
No worries—we just huddled a bit closer together and watched the sheets of rain come down while we stayed mostly dry in the safety of the wooden pavilion.
Hearty Vermonters don’t pack up and run when it rains, and Rotarians are part of that bunch!
